Written by Rose Njoroge
Nakuru County Secretary, Dr. Samuel Mwaura, joined newly appointed employees in the Department of Infrastructure for a two-day induction session. The training aimed to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective service delivery.
The induction covered key aspects of public service, including government structure and organization, human resource management, public service procedures, protocol and communication, and mental health awareness. Other topics included performance management and contracting, as well as ethics and public service values.
“These sessions are not just about policies and procedures—they are about shaping a workforce that delivers results,” said Dr. Mwaura. “We want you to be problem solvers, innovators, and professionals who understand the weight of public service.”
In his address, Dr. Mwaura emphasized the importance of aligning with Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto and the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP). He noted that understanding these guiding frameworks is crucial for delivering quality services to Nakuru residents.
He further encouraged employees to prioritize both personal and professional growth. “Public service is about people. If you master emotional intelligence, teamwork, and a proactive mindset, you will not only excel but also transform lives,” he added.
Through such induction programs, Nakuru County continues to strengthen its workforce, ensuring that public service delivery remains efficient, ethical and aligned with the county’s developmental goals.
