County issues tablets to ease subsidized fertilizer registration
By Mercy Kihugu
The County Department of Agriculture has issued tablets and backup power banks to all Ward Agricultural Officers (WAOs) in the County.
The gadgets will be used to register farmers across the county for easy distribution of the government’s subsidized fertilizers and other agricultural advisory services.
The County is using technology to enable farmers to acquire agronomic techniques and skills to improve their productivity, food security and livelihoods.
In 2018, Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s administration launched the Nakuru Farmer Call Center, a technology-driven initiative to enable farmers to access fast hand information.
The platform enables farmers to make inquiries to agricultural experts at the centre and get feedback as fast as possible through SMS, WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook and calls.
