Bidco Land launches 1.2 billion Nakuru ultra-modern animal feed manufacturing plant

Bidco Land O’Lakes has launched an estimated 1.2 billion Nakuru ultra-modern animal feed manufacturing plant which aims to produce over 28 metric tons per hour of animal nutrition products.

This is in line with Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s manifesto to promote and utilize value addition chains through partnerships with investors to ensure economic empowerment of the county and ensure quality feed for farmers in the county.

CS Industries, Trade, and Cooperatives, Peter Munya, who officially launched the plant, said that the plant would make a difference to farmers and the economy through employment and it’s a contribution to quality feed.

He added that, with consumer’s lack of access to quality and affordable feed, the plant would be able to fill the gap and provide quality in the value chain.

Dr. Erick Korir, Deputy Governor, said farmers will benefit immensely and the venture will encourage youth and women to seek empowerment in agribusiness.

Vimal Shah, Chairman of Bidco Africa said that the plant will empower farmers and agribusinesses with more competition by increasing farmers’ outputs and yields to be more viable in their markets.

Dr. Immaculate Maina, CECM Agriculture, said that with feeds and feeding being the foundation of sustainable livestock production, the county together with stakeholders aims at creating synergy to exploit the feed industry along with various value chain actors through processing and value addition.

The plant has added advanced nutrition products to target progressive livestock producers whose focus is high performance and productivity from their animals.
