County flags off Sh100 million drugs to boost healthcare services

The County Government of Nakuru has flagged off yet another consignment of drugs and medical supplies worth Kshs 100 million to complement efforts in providing quality healthcare in the region.

The drugs will be distributed to 16 levels 4 Hospitals and 178 rural hospitals across the County and the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital.

The consignment includes essential medicines, Laboratory, dental, linen products, oncology/cancer, public health, renal products, medical equipment and devices among others.

Deputy Governor, Dr Eric Korir stated that this has been made possible due to Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s immense support towards the provision of Healthcare Services in Nakuru

County Executive Committee Member Dr Kariuki Gichuki said that the county procures drugs and other essential medical supplies from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority quarterly and other specialized health products from other qualified suppliers to meet demand.

Ms Jackeline Mainye, Sales and marketing manager at Kemsa said they are committed to offering an efficient supply chain in Kenya through efficient procurement, warehousing and distribution of medical supplies.

She stated that Nakuru is one of the top counties in Kenya buying health products with consistent procurement and prompt payment of supplies worth Ksh 800 Million yearly.

The distribution of medical supplies for this quarter started last week Thursday, 19th of August and will run through this week to ensure all facilities have received drugs.
