County sports fund to support and sustain sports talents – Deputy Governor Kones

The County Government of Nakuru under the leadership of H.E Governor Susan Kihika is committed to changing how government supports and nurtures sports talents in the county.
While flagging off Nakuru City Queens for a match in Thika, Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones highlighted that the administration will ensure that both indoor and outdoors talents are nurtured and supported.
He further encouraged the girls not to give up on their dreams adding that their efforts may lead to them representing the county and the nation in continental and international events.
Hon. Kones also promised to help address the challenges the group and most sportsmen and sportswomen in the county are facing. The challenges include a lack of equipment where the county will have a sports fund to support and sustain sports talents.
Nakuru City Queens FC is the only club in the county playing in the Kenya Premier League.
Sports CECM Hon Josephine Achieng noted that the administration under the leadership of H.E. Governor Susan Kihika will ensure the completion of stadia across the county including Afraha Stadium and Keringet Athletics Academy among others.
In addition, the County will support an athletics team to participate in the AK cross-country championship in Kericho.
Also Present were Chief Officers Stella Mwaura, Gladys Kamuren and Director of sports Alice Gekonde.
