County to ensure that Agriculture becomes major driver towards nutrition and food security

Agriculture is the biggest contributor to the county’s Gross County Product (GDP), and it provides employment to thousands of county residents
The administration led by H.E. Governor Susan Kihika is committed to ensuring that agriculture becomes a major driver towards achieving nutrition and food security in the county.
The new Agriculture Chief Officer Mr Kibet Kurgat has promised to ensure Nakuru gets to the top in matters of agriculture and supporting farmers in improving their livelihoods.
He added that he would support the extension officers across the county to help in efficient and effective service delivery to the farmers.
Mr Kurgat highlighted this during the handover ceremony from his predecessor Mr Kibet Maina.
Agriculture CECM Hon. Leonard Bor welcomed the Chief Officer and assured him of his support in executing his mandate and addressing issues of agriculture.
He further highlighted that he will be at the forefront in supporting policies that respond to the specific needs and improve the agricultural and livestock sector.
Also present was the Chief Officer in charge of Livestock, Fisheries and Veterinary Services Dr Michael Cheruiyot.
