COUNTY YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Nakuru County Government has urged youths to acquire technical skills to enable them to benefit from job opportunities that will be availed by the ongoing development of industrial, agricultural and energy parks within the County.
The County Government in partnership with various organizations has zoned and planned areas for specific activities which include Green Energy Park being developed by Kengen at its geothermal power generation hub in Olkaria, Naivasha.
Another one is Egerton University agro-industrial Park that will be key in the manufacture of agronomic production, processing, value addition, and sales of raw food materials thereby increasing employment opportunities.
Trade,Tourism and cooperative CECM Mr. Raymond Komen said, many local and foreign investors have shown great interest in investing the parks among them Naivasha Special Economic Zone once they are ready.
” We have several investors who are ready to come and invest in our county so we welcome them because they will create thousands of direct employment opportunities for our youth,” he said
Komen said the County government has heavily invested in industrial parks that are key to economic growth and create employment opportunities and income-generating activities
He added that the Government of Governor Lee Kinyanjui have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with USAID in increase trade ties between the United States and Kenya at the county level.
Komen was speaking in Comboni polytechnic in Gilgil during the issuing of assorted tool kits for roofing, masonry, tile laying, carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical installation to youths from the region.
Youths Director Josephat Kimemia echoed Komen’s sentiments that the county has various programs to support and build their capacity.
Local KCB Bank officials praised the efforts being done by county to boost the youth pledging that their organization will join hands supplement their efforts.
