Governor Kihika Spearheads Transformation with Multi-Faceted Infrastructural Initiatives
Written by Nancy Kihara
In a bid to enhance connectivity and boost trading activities, Governor Susan Kihika has initiated the commencement of the construction of the Korofa-Kapchorwa road, spanning 14.5 kilometres.
The road has long been a crucial route for the residents of Kuresoi South, and its development will open up the area for farmers and create links to other wards from Amalo.
Engineer Michael Kamau, the County Executive Member for Infrastructure, emphasized that the project would encompass grading with murraming and the installation of culverts along the entire 14.5-kilometre stretch.
He assured the community that, as part of the road safety program, the Department of Infrastructure would provide training to 100 bodaboda riders, equip them with driving licenses, and enlist a few first aiders to respond to accidents on-site.
During her address, Governor Kihika highlighted that her administration, through the Department of Infrastructure, has allocated funds for the construction and rehabilitation of various roads.
The roads include Kapkoro ECDE to Cattle Dip, Kibuemit, Kimigul-Kongasisi, Kwendo, AIC to Pangani, Professor Kimei, Kiptaragon Primary to AGC, Alberto Kap-Edward, and Olenguroone Chesuon Road.
She urged the Department of Infrastructure to collaborate closely with KERRA to ensure that Amani Primary School students have reliable access to electricity.
Additionally, the proposed rehabilitation of the Sh22.8 million Molo town access road, routine maintenance, and spot improvement of Comfort Feeds-Saptet Center-St Joseph Primary School road in Elburgon Ward, and the Molo Bus Park were also launched today.
The bus park, which serves matatus travelling to Nakuru, Molo, Eldoret, Kitale, and Nairobi, will undergo the renovation process, involving the removal of the existing pavement, installation of culverts, street lighting, and provision of sheds.
The governor assured the residents that this was just the beginning and pledged to ensure that all infrastructural developments in Nakuru County are maintained in good condition.
Joining the governor were County Secretary Dr Samuel Mwaura, Chief of Staff Dr Peter Ketyenya, various CECs, COs, and MCAs
