Governor Lee distributes 700 chairs and tables to Gilgil ECDs
Children joining school need a conducive learning environment, as this forms the foundation of their education.
Today afternoon, Governor Lee Kinyanjui distributed 648 chairs and 108 tables to 18 ECD schools in Gilgil Sub-County.
He said the County’s target is to ensure 6,419 pupils in ECDs across the county are sitting comfortably in their classrooms.
“We will introduce school feeding uji program to ensure pupils get nutritious meals, clean water, child friendly toilets and hand washing facilities,” he said.
Other programs the County has for ECDs include:
->Construction of 350 ECD classrooms by end of this financial year
->Employment of more ECD teachers. So far the County has employed 266 teachers.
->Proposed Kshs524million budget allocation towards ECDs in the next financial year.
Bursary: The County Government will have distributed bursary worth Kshs 130million by the end of this financial year. So far, the County has released Kshs55 million in the 1st tranche, 65million in the 2nd tranche to wards and Kshs15million Governor’s kitty.
