
Nakuru County Sets Global Collaboration Benchmark with The Pearson Institute at the University of Chicago

In an unprecedented collaboration, Nakuru County Secretary, Dr. Samuel Mwaura, orchestrated a consultative meeting with The Pearson Institute at the University of Chicago, USA. Held at the County Headquarters, the event aimed to address critical issues shaping the local government’s landscape.
The meeting delved into challenges spanning Politics, Education, Youth and Sports, Gender and Social Services, Environment and Agriculture, as well as Trade and Cooperatives. Dr. Mwaura underscored Nakuru County’s commitment to effective governance and proactive problem-solving.
Highlighting Nakuru’s status as not just a regional powerhouse but a testament to the potential of effective devolution, Dr Mwaura expressed eagerness to address challenges and continue thriving as a beacon of progress in Kenya. He emphasized Nakuru City’s significance as Kenya’s Second City after Nairobi to have a national park, solidifying its standing in the country’s landscape.
Chief Officer for Youth, Sports Talent, and Resource Mobilization, Pastor Alex Maina, emphasized that in Nakuru, community cohesion is not just a concept but a tangible reality. Through diverse initiatives, the county fosters a sense of unity and understanding among residents.
Political Director Hon. Kibore Rutto highlighted the transparency and accountability of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) during elections, garnering immense trust from citizens.
Chief Officer for Environment, Kennedy Mungai, discussed challenges at the intersection of politics, environmental crime, and resource accessibility in Kenya. He emphasized the nation’s response with a robust legal framework.
