Nakuru County is making great strides in improving public health for its citizens by prioritizing public health interventions aimed at reducing the burden of curative health services within the county. The Health Executive Committee Member, Jacqueline Osoro, today had an engagement with all sub-county public health officers across the county to review their performance, evaluate the implementation of various health interventions and identify areas for improvement.
The main objective of this initiative is to ensure that public health becomes a top priority in achieving primary healthcare, as envisioned in Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto. This will not only help to reduce the disease burden within the county but also improve access to healthcare services.
Engagement with the sub-county public health officers is an important step toward achieving this goal. During the meeting, Jacqueline Osoro emphasized the importance of public health interventions and the role they play in promoting primary healthcare. She stated, “We want to ensure we reduce disease burden within the County through public health interventions.”
The engagement was also an opportunity for the officers to evaluate their performance and identify areas for improvement. This will help them to come up with better strategies to tackle public health challenges and improve the delivery of healthcare services in the county.
The Chief Officer for Public Health, Alice Abuki, who was also present at the meeting, assured the health workers of the governor’s support urging them to work diligently. This is a significant boost for the officers as it shows that the government is committed to improving public health in the county.
One of the key objectives of the initiative is to raise at least 100 Million from Public Health sources. This will go a long way in strengthening public health interventions in the county. The funds will be used to purchase medical equipment, drugs, and other essential supplies needed to provide quality healthcare services.
According to County Director for Public Health, Ms Elizabeth Kiptoo, teamwork is essential in achieving public health goals. She emphasized the need for all stakeholders to work together to ensure that public health interventions are effective.
The efforts of the Department of Health, in collaboration with public health officers and other stakeholders, are a step towards achieving this goal. This initiative reflects Nakuru County’s commitment to providing high-quality public health services to its citizens.
By prioritizing public health interventions, the county hopes to reduce the burden on curative health services and promote primary healthcare. This will lead to healthier communities and a better quality of life for the citizens of Nakuru County.
In conclusion, the engagement with the sub-county public health officers is a significant step towards achieving Nakuru County’s vision of providing high-quality public health services. The commitment of the government, in collaboration with public health officers and other stakeholders, is a testament to its dedication to improving the health of its citizens.
