Nakuru to partner with Family Bank on School Feeding program

Nakuru Governor, Her Excellency Susan Kihika today met a top delegation from Family Bank led by Chief Executive Officer, Head Office Ms Rebecca Mbithi to discuss possible partnerships with the bank in creating opportunities for residents of Nakuru County.

The bank which is currently the fourth largest in the country has 93 branches and boasts assets worth over Kshs. 128 billion. It will partner with the county as it embarks on Governor Kihika’s pet project of a school feeding program for children attending Early Childhood Education next year on a pilot basis.

“We will start it as a pilot project in areas which are really needy. Eventually, we intend to cover the whole county,” said she said.

Family Bank, Ms Mbithi said, also provides high school scholarships for girls. It also offers Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) training for college graduates in animation and coding; scholarships to Israel for school leavers to train in modern methods of irrigation to boost farming while at the same time encouraging girls to venture into construction by training them in plumbing, electrical works and painting.

“We want to partner with institutions which help us to achieve what we promised the people of Nakuru during campaigns,” the Governor said.

Governor Kihika was accompanied by the Chief of Staff. Dr Peter Ketyenya and Dr Samuel Mwaura, the acting County Secretary.
