Over 100 women trained on poultry farming in Eburu Mbaruk by County Government

The financial independence of a woman significantly contributes to the stability of a home, even in families where the man is the breadwinner.

The County Government hopes to foster economic empowerment in women across the County through training like the one held in Gilgil Sub County at Eburu Mbaruk.

Over 100 women were taken through the practice of poultry farming and ways of creating a sustainable business through chicken rearing.

The training which was carried out by Livestock Production Officer Ms. Juliana Opiyo looked at diseases that affect chicken, how to make chicken feed, and the benefit of feeding a balanced diet to the birds.

Testaments of women like Grace Gatei who is a devout chicken farmer and who promised to apply the skills she learned to earn higher returns were encouraging.

The County Government endeavors to uplift the economic standards of women across the County through capacity building.

Similar training was held in Njoro Sub County, Kihingo ward where 200 women were trained on dairy farming.

The attendees were taken through feed formulation, milk production, and milk hygiene.

The session led by the County Livestock Production Officer Mr. James Kamau demystified the common mistakes that dairy farmers make, leading to low milk production.

Njoro Sub County is home to two dairy plants and is a significant producer of milk in the County.

The event was graced by Njoro Sub County administrator Mr. James Mwaura, Director Special Programs Elizabeth Mwarangu, area MCA George Kiere and other County officials.

In the past, we have distributed chicken to families with children with special needs in various parts of the County. This has changed the lives of many families.
