REOPENING OF BANITA MARKET

Residents of Soin and Solai wards have found reprieve following the re-opening of Banita Livestock market that had been closed for five months to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.

While overseeing the opening of the market, the County Trade Minister Raymond Komen said the decision was informed realization that COVID-19 might stay longer and the need to grow the economy.

” We decided to re-open this market to allow us to continue building this nation but there is a great need to observe the Ministry of health protocols to protect ourselves and those that we love,” he said

Komen discouraged crowding and urged members of the public to engage in business while observing all the set regulations such as the need for social distancing, masking regular hand washing, sanitizing, and use of thermo guns.

Rongai Sub County Administrator Mr. Ben Yattich advised traders to work closely with public health officers in the region to jointly curb the spread of the pandemic.

Area MCA Irene Chebichi thanked the county government for its tireless efforts of protecting its residents through the enacting of safety rules and the donation of COVID-19 protective gear.

The county government has built a modern market in Banita market that is 90-percent complete and set to be commissioned for use in the next one month.
