Over 70 organizations working in the gender sector in the county, have today held a Nakuru County Gender Partners Engagement Forum.
The forum offered an opportunity for the stakeholders to be sensitized on the County Gender and Development Policy and Nakuru County Gender Equality Bill 2019.
It also focuses on enabling stakeholders working in the gender sector to create a road map for coordination, synergy, lesson sharing and leveraging resources amongst them.
During the forum which was officially opened by County Director Gender, Selina Nkatha, it was highlighted that there’s a need to promote a holistic gender sustainable development.
This is through offering equal opportunities in resources and responsibilities and providing strategic guidance for gender mainstreaming actions that lead to gender equality in Nakuru County.
Miss Nkatha noted that the forum will help address issues of lack of coordination and regulation as well as documentation and information sharing to avoid duplication and wastage of resources
The administration of H.E. Governor Susan Kihika is committed to supporting and mainstreaming gender issues in the county.
The theme of the forum is “Strengthening linkages and partnerships towards achieving gender equality and inclusivity in Nakuru County”,
