Working With The Nakuru County Sports Council to Improve Sports

Nakuru County is set to streamline and modernize its Sports Federation Council operations to align with the laws as outlined in the Council’s Constitution and address issues raised by the County Sports Federation in a previous gathering at Afraha Stadium.
This was revealed during a meeting convened by the Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, Talent, and Resource Mobilization, Pastor Alex Maina, and attended by Nakuru County Sports Council leaders led by Secretary General Mr. Lemi Karani at the County Headquarters.
Pastor Maina commended the council leadership for their proactive measures in overcoming challenges faced by the Sports Federation. He emphasized the collaborative efforts between the two institutions, highlighting their role in supporting the county’s aspirations to foster sports development and nurture talents.
He requested that federations be given easy access to the council to help in the growth of the council and reach the grassroots levels. Pastor Alex also promised to work with the council in promoting sporting activities.
The Secretary General Mr. Lemi Karani thanked the County Government for their continued support that has pushed them to greater heights. He highlighted how their constitution works and how their guidelines have been helping them acquire new members as well as being vital in the coordination of different federations.
Sally Njeri, the President of Nakuru County Sports Council, thanked the Chief Officer for the platform to air their opinions and promised to work together even soon. Peter Omondo, Assistant Secretary, cited lack of funds being a major hindrance to their growth.
Whereas Rajab Langoi the Judo Coach lauded the Chief Officer Pst Alex Maina for the good mechanisms he’s putting in place to ensure every talent at the grassroots level is tapped and utilised well. And said he will be at the forefront to ensure Her Excellency Governor Susan Kihika gets more votes for her re-election come 2027.
The event was topped off with Pastor Alex Maina being awarded a certificate for his efforts in ensuring the growth and development of the sports fraternity.
