Austrian Embassy explores possible collaboration with County on Health matters

The County Government of Nakuru under the leadership of H.E Governor, Susan Kihika continues to foster constructive partnerships that enhance quality service delivery, especially in healthcare provision.

The County Secretary, Mr Benjamin Njoroge today hosted the Austrian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Kenya, Ambassador Christian Fellner to discuss possible areas of collaboration for the benefit of Nakuru residents.

The Ambassador was accompanied by a team from Prime Health Pharma Limited, an authorized medical products and technologies supplier in Kenya that resonates with Austrian technology and products.

The Austrian Embassy has donated a biochemistry and an electrolyte machine, both which are essential laboratory equipments used to measure serum, plasma, and urine electrolytes.

Nominated County Executive Committee Member for Health, Dr Samuel Mwaura noted that the County will use the equipment over some time to allow evaluation and validation of the Return on Investments. “We appreciate the support, and we will involve our experts in the validation of the machines as we follow other processes that may be required”, he noted.

The equipment will be placed at the Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital, a high-volume facility with a comprehensive renal unit to maximize the use of the equipment.

“The machines will provide affordable tests with a reduced cost below the current market rates of about Shs. 200 per test for electrolyte,” said the Managing Director for Prime Health Pharma LTD who also noted that these machines have previously been validated in other facilities within the country including Kenyatta National Hospital and Mbagathi Hospital.
