Boost for quality healthcare provision as County employs 295 medics

The County Government of Nakuru has through the County Public Service Board employed 295 healthcare workers to improve on service delivery in the region.

The new recruits are spread out across various cadres such as registered nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, Radiographers, Clinical Officers and Public Health Officers.

A 4-day long orientation and training program, which entails a wide range of topics including public service work ethics and COVID-19 management and response among others, kicked off today.

While addressing the new team, the County Minister for Health, Dr Kariuki Gichuki said the new employees will greatly impact on service delivery as County embarks on health infrastructural upgrades.

The County has also employed 21 medical doctors, including consultants, and 30 specialized ambulance operators.

Dr Kariuki added that the department will soon induct the second cohort of healthcare workers recruited under Universal Healthcare.

Chief Officer Public Health Services, Mr Samuel King’ori congratulated all the recruits for being successfully selected to join the COVID-19 frontline workers with the vision of making Nakuru a healthy county.

He said that due to COVID-19 pademic, the trainings are being conducted in 4 different stations to comply with COVID-19 regulations.
