County Government Distribute Relief Food to Tour Guides and Operators
The County Government has distributed COVID-19 relief food to over 200 tour operators and guides who have been hit hard by the effects of coronavirus pandemic.
While overseeing the exercise, Trade, Tourism, and Cooperative CECM Raymond Komen said the tourism sector was adversely affected and the initiative is meant to sustain them from tough economic crises.
“ We have today donated food items to over 200 tour operators and tour guides who have been out of their businesses to temporarily enable them to feed their families,” he said
Mr. Komen added that the County Government is supporting one man one shilling county revenue sharing formula, saying through it, that the Nakuru will eliminate the high levels of poverty.
Beneficiaries thanked Governor Lee Kinyanjui for his continued support to vulnerable groups at the county saying his efforts are unprecedented.
The tourism sector across the world was negatively affected by the World Travel and Tourism Council has warned that the COVID-19 pandemic could cost up to 50 million jobs in the travel and tourism industry.
