City Management Engages Tuk Tuk Operators to Address Sector Challenges

In a proactive move to address pressing issues within the transport sector, the City Manager, Mr. Gitau Thabanja today convened a consultative meeting with tuk tuk operators. The session served as a crucial platform for operators to voice concerns and express desired improvements, aiming for a seamless operational business.
During the meeting, operators highlighted key challenges affecting their business. Foremost among them was the pressing need for designated drop-off and pick-up points within the core Central Business District (CBD) essential to enhancing efficiency and convenience for both drivers and passengers.
In addition, operators unanimously called for the allocation of designated stages and waiting bays to streamline operations. They emphasized the importance of transparent and efficient procedures in stage allocation.
Mr. Thabanja reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of H.E Governor Susan Kihika to support and accommodate tuk tuk operators, ensuring a conducive environment for their businesses to flourish.
“This proactive stance underscores the Administration’s dedication to addressing challenges within the transport sector and fostering a symbiotic relationship between the Management and the City’s transport industry” Said Thabanja
Additionally, a pledge was made to thoroughly investigate and resolve concerns regarding the double allocation of stages, demonstrating a commitment to equitable solutions and operational fairness.
In response, the City Manager vowed to collaborate closely with the Revenue docket and other concerned parties to ensure harmonization.
He encouraged operators to propose convenient locations for designated stages, promising proactive engagement and implementation of feasible solutions.
They called upon the City Management and County Administration to designate points for trucks shipping garbage during collection and disposal days, to ease traffic congestion and maintain normal routines.
This collaborative effort between the Administration and tuk tuk operators reflects a commitment to addressing sector challenges and promoting efficient, sustainable transportation practices within the City.
