Empowering Nakuru’s Urban Governance, A Strategic Approach To A Cohesive and Urban Administration

In effort to reshape Nakuru County’s urban landscape, Chief Officer Public Service and Administration Charles Koech convened a meeting with the Managers of Nakuru City, Naivasha, Gilgil, and Molo Municipalities.

The focus of the meeting was to deliberate on strategies of streamlining enforcement operations, aligning with delegated functions, and designating enforcement officers to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the urban institutions.

The delegated functions include development, surveillance and compliance and outdoor advertisement, on street parking and solid waste management.

This collaborative effort, in line with H.E Governor Susan Kihika’s Urban Agenda, aims to contribute to a more robust and well-coordinated urban governance system, ultimately promoting better service delivery and fostering sustainable urban and economic growth.

The meeting deliberated on various pressing urban issues, addressing concerns such as traffic management, urban planning, security, and staffing gaps.

Through thoughtful discussions, the aim is to elevate service delivery standards and pave the way for a more resilient and sustainable future.

Further, the decision to assess the safety of Municipal offices also showcased the commitment to providing a secure working environment for officers engaged in urban institutions.

A subsequent discussion on financing urban Boards operations during a courtesy call with Chief Officer Joseph Malinda also bore fruitful deliberations.

The dialogue emphasized the commitment to efficiency and transparency in the management of public resources, fostering a responsible and effective urban administration.
