County offers free Diabetes, Hypertension screening at PGH
A one-week free diabetes and hypertension screening drive is ongoing at the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital – Outpatient Unit.
The exercise is sponsored by the County and targets to screen over 3,000 people before Saturday this week.
Diabetes and hypertension have been linked to increasing one’s risk of developing severe illness from COVID-19.
The County has partnered with Novo Nordisk, a Danish multinational pharmaceutical company, to supply free and subsidized medication.
The Diabetes Centre of Excellence at the facility handles over 1,000 diabetic patients per month.
The County has trained over 500 healthcare workers on diabetes screening and management.
Satellite diabetes clinics have been opened in selected Level 3 and 4 hospitals across the County.
