County secures full scholarships for 25 students from KCB Foundation
The County Government of Nakuru in collaboration with the KCB foundation and the National Bank of Kenya today issued the 2023 scholarships to over 25 beneficiaries in a commissioning event held at Rift Valley sports club. The event was graced by Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament Hon. David Gikaria, Chief Officer for Education John Koech, County Director of Education, and MCAs from various wards within the County.
In a speech delivered by the Chief Officer for Education Mr John Koech, Governor Susan Kihika thanked the KCB foundation and National Bank for their continued support in making sure that children from poor backgrounds have access to quality education and saving parents from the anguish of securing fees. The Governor urged the students to work hard and make a change in their homes and the country at large.
Koech further assured those present that the Governor, through the department of education is committed to education and innovation. The Governor will be disbursing bursaries, and rolling out the ECDE school feeding program in line with her manifesto to ensure zero school dropout cases in the County.
While making his remarks, Mr Koech reiterated the Governor’s remarks urging the KCB and National Bank group to extend their support to more sub-counties in the entire Nakuru County.
Zach Njeru, the KCB branch manager in Naivasha, highlighted that they revamped the foundation last year in order to cover not only high school but also tertiary education setting aside 100 million shillings for the 2023 beneficiaries.
Hon Gikaria, the Nakuru Town East MP who was also in attendance expressed his gratitude to the County Government, and the KCB foundation team saying that they have impacted society positively through their scholarship program.
Others in attendance included Biashara ward MCA Hon Fadhili Msuri, London ward MCA Hon Bernard Maina, Nakuru East MCA Hon Anthony Kamau, Kabatini ward MCA Hon Leah Wambui, and Njoro ward MCA Hon Hezekiah Kung’u Kariuki who came to support and encourage the beneficiaries from their areas.
