Forge sustainable environment solutions for a healthier planet, World Environment Day key message.

More than 14,000 trees were planted in Tetu farm in subukia ward Subukia sub-county to commemorate the World Environment Day 2024 themed, Addressing Desertification Land Restoration and Drought Resilience.
The Day is celebrated annually on June 5, to put a spotlight on environmental challenges,raise awareness about environmental issues and to take action to make the world a greener and healthier.
County Executive for Water, Environment, Energy Climate and Natural Resources who represented Her Excellency Governor Susan Kihika rallied the residents to preserve the environment by planting more trees.
“On this World Environment Day, let’s come together to protect and preserve our planet. Every small action counts, plant a tree, reduce waste, and promote sustainability. Together, we can create a greener, healthier world for future generations,” Dr. Maara noted.
On his part, Eng. Michael Kamau CECM for roads and infrastructure reaffirmed the Counties commitment is on creating sustainable environment practices that will ensure the well-being of future generation.
This through taking deliberate steps and measures to preserve,conserve and restore the beauty that the mother nature has bestowed on us, a sentiment that was echoed by Chief Officer for Environment Kennedy Mungai
Nakuru County under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika appreciate all the stakeholders for taking part in this initiative and encourage the residents to continue promoting green initiatives.
Additionally, with the ever growing climate crisis that the world face today, it is crucial for the public and policy makers to co-create solutions to arrest the further degradation of the environment.
Accompanying them were Chief Officer for water and sanitation Eng Margaret kinyanjui, Chief Officer for Public health Alice Abuki, Director for Environment Grace Karanja, Kenya Defence Forces, NEMA, Kenya Forest Service and many other stakeholders from various organisations.
