Governor launches two skip loader trucks and ten skippers worth Ksh 25 million
Governor Lee Kinyanjui has welcomed all BBI sensitisation rallies to Nakuru County.
In his remarks the Governor said the County Government is receptive to all leaders who will push for peace and unity in the country.
However, Governor Kinyanjui noted that the County Government is yet to receive a formal request for venue of the planned meeting to be held on February 8.
He added that the County Government would nonetheless facilitate necessary arrangements for the success of the meeting once the request has been received.
“I support the recommendations of the BBI report since it pushes for the unity of all Kenyans,” the County boss said.
He was speaking at Wakulima market where he launched two skip loader trucks and ten skippers worth Ksh 25 million.
“We have started the journey towards sustainable waste management to reclaim the glory of Nakuru town,” he noted.
The Governor added that the equipment will be placed at Wakulima market and strategic points in the informal settlements.
“In the second phase the County Government plans to purchase one skip loader truck and five skippers as well as installing additional waste bins in the Central Business District,” Governor Kinyanjui said.
These efforts will help reduce cases of cholera outbreaks that have affected our County in the past.
At the same time, the Governor said the County Government is on course to expand and rehabilitate all markets in the Sub Counties to provide a conducive environment for our traders.
According to the Market Chairperson Mr Dan Mwangi, the efforts to improve waste management will increase customers going into the market and hence increase the income of the traders.
“We have enjoyed a good working relationship with the Office of the Governor and we are grateful that he has improved the working environment of the traders here,” Mr Mwangi said.
20 motorcycles were also distributed to the water utilities within the county to ease response of officers from the Water Department in the event of water related problems reported by the residents.
