Governor Lee disburses Shs.58m bursary
Governor Lee Kinyanjui today disbursed the second tranche bursary of Kshs.58.8 million to needy students in all 55 wards in Nakuru County.
This will benefit 13,443 university, college, and secondary school students. This includes 158 students living with disabilities.
He urged parents to apply for a bursary to ensure their children do not drop out of school for lack of fees.
The Governor was speaking at Kolifar Primary School in Eburu Mbaruk Ward, Gilgil Sub-County where he also opened an ECD center equipped with furniture and also distributed learning materials for Pre-Primary 1 and 2.
“I congratulate the school for its improved performance and I was happy to see pupils using tablets that were distributed by the National Government. Technology is key in the modern world,” he said.
The Governor said the County in the last financial year employed 266 ECD teachers and will add the number this year.
The roof of some classes in the school was blown off by wind early this year and the County Government helped rebuild. To mitigate such incidents in the future, the Governor said his administration will plant 1,000 trees around the school to act as windbreaks.
