inspection of Water Projects in Eburru Ward, Gilgil Sub-county

In a significant stride towards fulfilling Governor Susan Kihika’s pledge to ensure access to clean and safe water for all, officials from the Department of Water and Sanitation led by CECM Dr. Nelson Maara today inspected various water projects in Eburru Mbaruk ward, Gilgil sub-county.This includes the Nderit Water Project, Kongasis, Oljorai and Eburru water projects.
The projects are at various levels of completion while others are complete awaiting commissioning.
The equiping and piping of the Kshs. 9 million Nderit water project is now complete and is awaiting the installation of a water tank. The project once fully complete will serve more than 2000 residents.
Over 3500 residents from the lower and upper parts of Oljorai will have access to clean and affordable water once the complete Oljorai Water project is commissioned. The project scope entailed solarization, piping, and construction of a water kiosk which are already complete.
Dr. Maara later inspected the Eburru Water Project funded by the Electricity Generating Company KENGEN, and is serving the Eastern and Northern parts of Eburru. He further made a promise to those residing in the Western and Southern parts of the area, that they will be supplied with water once an agreement is reached with the Company. He also promised that the County Government under the leadership of H.E Governor Susan Kihika, will repair the water pump at the Kongasis water projects which serves more than 1200 households.
Additionally, the County will also do piping in the lower parts of Kongasis to benefit more residents.
Dr Maara was accompanied by the area MCA Michael Gathanwa, Jane Simitta (Political Office of the Governor) Water Engineer John Maina, Ward Administrators Joyce Nyambura and Paul Kamau.
