Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) games 8th edition kick-off in Tharaka Nithi County

Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports, and Arts will deploy a team from Talanta Hela and more scouts in the ongoing Inter-County games in Tharaka Nithi County in search of grassroots talent.
During the opening ceremony of the 8th edition of the Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) games at Kirubia Stadium, Sports CS Ababu Namwamba said this would promote grassroots players and help them join national teams.
This is in line with the government’s efforts to monetize sports and expand employment opportunities for youths in Kenya.
Namwamba also commended the participating counties for their support of young sports talents urging them to ensure that the tournament offer opportunities for both male and female athletes.
Namwamba further announced that Nakuru County would host the finals of the Kenya Academy of Sports tournament as part of the government’s efforts to foster sports talent in the country.
The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Jonathan Mueke, the PS for the Department of Sports, among other leaders and hosted by Tharaka Nithi County Governor, Muthomi Njuki.
Nakuru football men’s team will kick off the tournament with a match against Busia and later against Siaya while the ladies will play against Kakamega County.
The volleyball team will play against Trans Nzoia County.
