LONDON MARKET PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
The County Government of Nakuru today held a Public Participation with the residents, stakeholders and community leaders from London ward in Nakuru Town West Subcounty with aim to approve a site for construction of a medium size multi-purpose London market.
Establishment of this market brings a reprieve to residents of London ward and its environs who have been traveling all the way to Nakuru Top Market and Wakulima market to buy and also sell their commodities.
According to the County Minister for Trade Raymond Komen officials from National Government’s State Department of Urban Planning will tomorrow on Wednesday come to assess the site after which tendering for construction is advertised immediately.
“We are happy for our Governor Lee Kinyanjui who lobbied for the sh. 47 million from the national government that will be used for its construction,” he said
Mr. Komen London area is a getaway from Rongai Subcounty which which is an agricultural area.
According to Komen, the market Wil accommodate traders of fresh produce, dry cereals, and clothes who have been trading along the highways.
” We are also glad that once operational, it will ease congestion of the markets at the town centre as well as contributing to the development of Nakuru West as the county gears to attain City status,”Komen added
Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama led other leaders who were present to thank administration of Governor Kinyanjui for such a move that will directly improve the living standards of the locals.
