NAKURU COUNTY MARKS WORLD TOURISM DAY
Nakuru County residents have been urged to embrace domestic tourism to help revive the crippling sector that is still suffering the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The CECM for Trade minister Raymond Komen said the administration of Governor Lee Kinyanjui is exploring all avenues available to package sites as ideal and attractive destination for tourists.
While speaking at Kamere beach in Naivasha during the World Tourism Day commemoration, Komen, said the county boasts National Parks and Lakes and several ideal places for meetings as well as Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) that should that are good for both foreign band local visitors.
Kimani Gitau, the County Tourism Association official appreciated the efforts of the County Governnment to keep the sector alive pledging that through their collaboration, they were ready to come up with several products that would boost domestic and international tourism bin bid to restore the opportunities that were lost with the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, Kenya has lost revenue of close to a hundred billion shillings since March this year when the outbreak took root in the country.
