Nakuru hosts first national special secondary schools athletics championship
Today, Nakuru County Deputy Governor Dr Erick Korir launched the 1st Edition of Special Secondary Schools National Athletics and Tracks Events Championships at Nakuru Boys High School.
The one-week event is underway at Nakuru Boys High School, Nakuru Girls High School and Kirobon Girls Secondary School.
Dr Korir said the championships is evidence to Kenyans of the potential to greatness that everyone has.
He paid homage to Paralympians such as Henry Wanyoike and Henry Kirwa among others, who have superseded the limitations of their disability and placed Kenya on the global map through sports.
The County Government of Nakuru donated 100Kgs of cooking oil, 200Kgs of wheat flour, 8 bags of 90Kgs each of beans and other items to be shared among the three sporting villages for upkeep during their stay in Nakuru.
Dr Korir also said an ambulance will be stationed in all the venues to attend to emergencies.
