Reshuffled CeCMs take up new offices

County Executive Committee Members(CECMs),who were reshuffled by Governor H.E Lee Kinyanjui last week, took over their new offices today.

Outgoing Finance and Planning CECM Joseph Kiuna handed over to the new Finance CECM Dr. Peter Ketyenya in the morning.

Later in the afternoon, Mr. Kiuna, who was moved to the Education,ICT and e-Government department,took over from his predecessor Mr. Raymond Komen.

Komen, the incoming Trade, Tourism and Cooperatives CECM, also reported to his new office and assumed his new responsibility where he was received by the outgoing CECM Dr Ketyenya.

The CECMs promised to discharge their new responsibilities with dedication to ensure the County Government delivers on it’s mandate.

While handing over, outgoing Trade, Tourism and Cooperatives CECM Dr.Ketyenya said through the County Enterprise Fund, Small and Medium Enterprises will receive financial assistance from the County Government at an affordable rate.

“We have four Bills that are tailored to support SMEs including the Enterprise Fund which proposes we lend to SMEs at only 3 per cent interest,” he said

Komen said following financial support extended to Technical, Industrial, Vocational and Enterprise Training(TIVET) institutions by the national Goverment enrolment in village polytechnics has doubled.

He said youths in Kuresoi and Subukia are already earning from ICT innovation hubs established by the County Government this year.

“The hubs offer the youth numerous opportunities globally as they can source for work online,”he said.

Kiuna said he would ensure the Governor’s manifesto on education is implemented.

“I take over with an open mind and will carry over from where my predecessor left to make sure the department shines,” he said
