Sh7.2 million drainage project to end perennial flooding in London Ward

The County Government of Nakuru is doing reinstatement and spot improvement of a road connecting Milimani West Estate to Nakuru-Kabarak main road in London Ward, Nakuru West Subcounty.

The sh. 7.2 million project entails laying of concrete slab and drainage system to address the acute problem of stormwater that wreaks havoc during the rainy season.

According to the Sub-county roads engineer, Mr Kariuki, the concrete slab is being laid on a 5.2 metres width for motorists with a pedestrian footpath and drainage also being factored in.

The Milimani West community through their chair Mr Muchama, thanked the administration of Governor Lee Kinyajui for the project saying it will end their perennial problem of stormwater carrying away the loose soil posing mobility challenge.

While speaking during the inspection of the project, the Chief Officer for Public Service Management Paul Githinji said the Governor understands the role of the good road network to the economy and has, therefore, since he came to office unlocked areas that used to be impassable across the county.

He also promised that other feeder roads will be opened up in the coming days to ease access and mobility in the area.
