Nakuru County Empowers Dreams Via Scholarly Partnerships

The County Government of Nakuru in collaboration with the Family Bank Foundation and other like-minded organizations continues to support needy students in the County to fulfil their academic dreams through bursaries and scholarship programs.

The County Executive Committee Member for Education, ICT, and e-Government Hon. Zipporah Wambui on Saturday flagged off the Family Bank Foundation scholarship for bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds in Nakuru County.

While making her remarks, the CECM delivered a congratulatory message from H.E. Governor Susan Kihika to the beneficiaries and thanked Family Bank for the program.

“The sky is no longer the limit. Education is the only equalizer in the world. I urge you to utilize this opportunity to study smart during your secondary education and beyond. Through education, you will transform your lives, and society and make Nakuru County at large proud. “The CECM encouraged the beneficiaries.

The CECM also highlighted the governor’s support through the bursary program noting that this Financial year the bursary allocation increased from 177 Million to 342 Million set to benefit close to 70 thousand college, secondary, university, and special school students. She said that the bursary will be launched by H. E Governor Susan Kihika this month.

Chief Officer Sports, Youth, Talent, and Resource Mobilization Pastor Alex Maina echoed the CECM’s sentiments urging the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity for future transformation.

He underscored the government’s commitment to community upliftment through diverse development projects including bursaries and youth empowerment programs.

Acknowledging the conducive business environment fostered by the County Government of Nakuru, the manager of Family Bank Nakuru Branch Mr Francis Gichuki commended the County for providing a conducive environment for doing business. He emphasized that thriving in such an environment enables businesses to grow allowing them to give back to society through initiatives like the scholarship program.

Samuel Odongo a parent to one of the beneficiaries also thanked the County and Family Bank for the opportunity. He narrated the story of her daughter who has been unable to join form one for the last three years due to financial challenges forcing her to repeat class 8 in different schools three times. But through this initiative, his daughter will now continue with her studies.

The transformative impact of Governor Susan Kihika‘s initiative is tangible on the ground. The head teacher Crater primarily thanked the governor for not only supporting the vulnerable through bursaries but also for spearheading state–of–the–art projects. An example is the completed ECDE project at her school, a testament to Governor Kihika’s commitment to advancing education and development in Nakuru County.
