County upgrades Elburgon hospital to improve healthcare services

The County is upgrading the Elburgon Level 4 Hospital in Molo sub-County to offer quality and affordable healthcare services.

The upgrade is also meant to lessen workload at the Nakuru Level 5, Njoro and Molo sub-County hospitals.

This is in line with Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s manifesto to provide quality healthcare to all Nakuru County residents.

Construction of a modern Sh40 million 150-bed capacity maternity wing at the hospital is over 90 per cent done.

The County has also replaced the over 20 years old leaking roofing tiles and asbestos with corrugated iron sheets.

Last year, the County equipped and staffed a theatre in the hospital and has since performed several surgeries.

The hospital has also received a Sh2.5 million laundry machine to help improve the hospital’s hygiene in the admission wards.

And today, Minister for Health Dr Gichuki Kariuki said the hospital will soon start optical/eye care services.

He was speaking today during a community dialogue to help get customer feedback for the improvement of services.

Ms Leah Wambui, a Community Health Volunteer in Matweku Community Unit appreciated the County’s efforts.

Chief Officer for Public Health Services, Mr Samuel King’ori said the County has invested Sh1 billion towards health infrastructural upgrade.

This week, the County distributed medicines and other items valued at Sh100 million to all hospitals in Nakuru County.
