Medics trained on COVID-19 vaccine administration
Training of all healthcare workers involved in the implementation of the mass COVID-19 vaccination drive in Nakuru County is ongoing at the Kenya Medical Training College- Nakuru Campus.
The two-day training seeks to equip the workers, drawn from all sub-counties, with adequate knowledge and skills to ensure safe and efficient COVID-19 vaccine administration.
The Department of Health Services is working in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the training will cascade to the sub-County level to enhance human resource capacity.
Today, the County also launched the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination for people aged above 58 in high infection areas. The first phase targeted healthcare providers, security officers and teachers.
Expanded Program on Immunization- WHO officer, Dr John Ogange commended the County Government of Nakuru for putting up measures to ensure speedy and wide COVID-19 vaccine uptake.
Present was the County Chief Nursing Officer, Ms Virginia Njenga, County Health Promotion Officer, Ms Ellen Ngware, County Health Records Officer, Mr Luke Kiptoon and the County Coordinator ICT-Health, James Ndung’u.
