Menengai West farmers receive 3,560-month-old improved kienyeji chicken
The County Government distributed over 3,560-month-old improved kienyeji (indigenous) chicken to about 26 farming groups in Menengai West Ward, Rongai Sub County.
The chicks have already undergone the early essential vaccinations.
This distribution is a continuation of H. E. Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s improved local chicken Stimulus program, which is aimed at improving the livelihood of County residents for a better and sustainable County economy.
The improved indigenous chicken grows faster, lay more eggs throughout the year and have a ready market.
Ms Jane Waititu, County Livestock officer, in her remarks encouraged the farmers to embrace the initiative due to its low maintenance cost with high productivity.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Ms Mary Njoki appreciated the effort and gains made by the County under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Lee Kinyanjui in the realization of a sustainable livelihood for her people.
The stimulus program is set to continue in other wards in Rongai Sub County and the entire County.
