Wakulima Market reopens after Six months shutdown

Following the directives by Governor Lee Kinyanjui, traders who have be n sheltering at Afraha Stadium Annex today returned to Wakulima market that was closed in March to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The market has been renovated and fixed in line with Ministry of Health protocols and the county government has put in place strict measures to ensure that safety measures are adhered to.

The County Minister for Trade Raymond Komen said strict rules have been put in place and the county officers will be there to enforce to guarantee safety to traders and all who visit the market.

“We will ensure that traders and buyers always wear face masks, observe social distancing, proper sanitation and no handshakes. Traders will also be screened and have their temperatures taken as they enter the premise regularly,” Komen said

Speaking at the market, the trader’s chair Maina Mwangi said traders are ready to adhere to the provided public health measures.

Traders however said they will adhere to health guidelines and also work hand in hand with the county administration in efforts to combat spread of Covid-19.

“We have been waiting a long time for the return to Wakulima Market, we are well prepared and willing to corporate with the government. We thank the Governor Lee Kinyanjui for this wise decision,” he said
